Expanded Programs on immunization (EPI-AJK)

Vaccine Preventable Disease control is top most priority to save and protect our generation from Tuberculosis, Polio, Measles, Pertusis, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pneumonia and other VPDs. New emerging vaccines are readily acceptable on availability for incorporation in our health system, for example IPV and PCV10 have recently added in EPI –AJK. IPV started first time in the last year.

Target Diseases:

    1. T.B
    2. Polio
    3. Diphtheria
    4. Pertussis
    5. Tetanus
    6. Hep-B
    7. Hib
    8. Streptococcus Pneumonia
    9. Measles
    10. Rotavirus

Achievements:

    • The state is Polio Free since 2000

    • Strengthening of Monitoring and Supervision.

    • Involved LHWs at the community level to create awareness about the importance of Polio &

    • Routinem Immunization.

    • Community Health Session held by LHWs and Vaccinators at UC level.

    • Training of LHWs in Routine Immunization of all the districts of AJK.

    • Capacity Building Workshop of Health Workers completed in AJK.

    • Rota Vaccine Launched in AJK

We started with 11 Civil Dispensaries and only 30 beds in 1947; the year of independence, and developed a remarkable health infrastructure for the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
