Prevention & Control of Blindness (PCB) Program

Duration of Project (12-07-2021 to 30-06-2025)

Cost: 94.871 Million

Main Objectives

  • To prevent avoidable blindness in AJ&K.
  • To maintain and increase the annual Cataract Surgical Rate (CSR).
  • To increase cornea transplant intervention.

Specific Objectives

  • Strengthen the management and accountability system for eye health.
  • Enable the delivery of efficient and effective eye health services through the availability of necessary technology.
  • Deploy an eye health workforce with the necessary skills appropriate to the various levels of eye healthcare.
  • Provide appropriate and reliable eye health information necessary for planning, decision-making, monitoring, and service improvement.

Benefits on completion of Project

  • To strengthen Eye departments by provision of equipment (up grading of the eyes departments at three (03) Tertiary Teaching Hospitals (TTH), seven (07) District Headquarter Hospitals in AJ&K. 11 optometrist appointed in CMHs, AIMS and DHQs.
